John Idzik named Jets new GM


After almost three weeks and more than a dozen interviews, the Jets have named former Seattle Seahawks VP of football administration John Idzik their new general manager.
Idzik will replace Mike Tannenbaum, who was let go a day after the team’s season-ending loss to Buffalo. Tannenbaum held the post since 2007, when he took over for Terry Bradway, the Jets senior personnel executive.
The decision was made by owner Woody Johnson with assistance from Korn/Ferry search firm representative Jed Hughes and team president Neil Glat.
In front of Idzik will be plenty of challenges. The team is well over the salary cap for 2013 and, despite a few obvious moves to get them under, they will still have to maximize the value of each player they bring in to fill out the roster.  Read more
